What will you need for this class
Materials you will need for this class:
- 1 or more of Art Clay Silver Syringe
- 20g or more of Art Clay Silver 999
- 5-10 gr of paste Art Clay Silver 999 (new, not reconditioned)
- 4mm silver Prong Stone Setting
- 4mm stone (resistant to heat 800℃/1472ºF)
- Cool Slip or some olive oil
- Liver of Sulfur
- 4 syringe tips for shaping but we advise to have more. We recommend the grey (1.19mm) or olive tips (1.6mm).
The tools you will need for this class are mostly the ones that you usually use for shaping, cutting, sanding, polishing and patina your metal clay projects. Bellow you will find a list with some tools that are specifically needed:
- Embossing heat gun - this you will use for warming the plastic syringe tips.
- Circle template 37mm diameter and smaller - for this course we use a 37, 33 and 27mm
- Round Domed shapes for drying pieces
- Rolling frames and roller
- Non-stick work surface and Teflon sheets
- Paper and Pencil
- Scissors and Glue tape roller
- Craft knife or scalpel
- Needle tool
- Tweezers – serrated tip
- Sanding paper 320 grit and the sanding sponges (red/ blue/green)
- Rubber Block
- Small paint brushes size 0, almond shape
- Water jar for holding the syringe
- Pliers, one flat noses and one concave-conical
- A thin straw for making the bail
- Texture with thin veins or a leaf - or your favorite texture
- 1 Rubber Polishing Wheel 19mm - this will be your mini flower nail
- 1 Rubber bur for Polishing (3000 grit)
- Polishing Tool and accessories - Foredom or Dremel
- Polishing cotton pendant wheel
- Brush pen (brass or steel bristles) or a Magnetic tumbler
- Dehydrator or a hot plate for drying your pieces
- Old toothbrush and bicarbonate – this is used to clean the piece before patina
- A kiln with all the accessories for firing and safety
